On Friday, January 13th, students at DAFFODIL Pre-K celebrated Martin Luther King, Jr. Day by participating in various activities that met the content areas of literacy, personal and social development, art, science, and social studies. To start the activities off, students made friendship bracelets and swapped them with a friend. Students also learned about Martin Luther King Jr.’s life by watching a short video and having a discussion. Next, students created various arts and crafts that celebrated Martin Luther King Jr. Last, students looked at a brown egg and a white egg and determined that the eggs were like people; even though we look different on the outside, we are the same on the inside. According to DAFFODIL teacher Holly Thomas, “The students had a great time with their classmates learning about Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and the true meaning of friendship.” The principal at DAFFODIL Pre-K is Dr. Linda Houseal.
