Alert: All Ware County Schools will dismiss early on August 21, 2017 due to the solar eclipse. Students will be served breakfast and a brown bag lunch prior to early dismissal. DAFFODIL Pre-K will release at 10:30am, followed by Center Elementary at 10:40am. All other elementary schools and the Ware County Learning Center will dismiss at 11:00am. Both middle schools will dismiss at 11:45am, and the high school will release at 12:15pm. Staff Members will be released once all students have vacated the building. We anticipate that students, drivers, and staff members will be home no later than 2:00pm. The peak of the eclipse is anticipated to occur at 2:44 PM. Afternoon practices such as band, volleyball, softball, football, etc. at all schools will meet inside until 3:20 PM, after which practice may be moved outside. If you have any questions, please call your child's principal.

WCHS Band Director Bussey Announces District Honor Band and All-State Band Contenders

Ware County High School Band Director Albert Bussey is proud to announce that 12 students are advancing to the final round of All-State Band auditions. These students will travel to Houston County High School in Perry, GA January 7th for the final audition. More than 2,200 high school students will be competing for 220 spots in the Georgia All-State Band.

The 12 students competing for the coveted spots include: Senior Bradley C. – Baritone, Senior Valeria P. – Alto Sax, Senior Andrew T. - Contra Clarinet, Senior Josh R. – Trombone, Senior Noah R. – Percussion, Sophomore Randy S. – Baritone, Sophomore Annabeth H. – Alto Sax, Sophomore Duncan R. – Alto Sax, Sophomore Alexandria W. – French Horn, Freshman Amber B. – Alto Sax, Freshman Emilee H. – Percussion, and Freshman Benjamin S. – French Horn.

 

Bussey also announced that 25 students have been selected for District Honor Band, including:
Josh R., Luis O., Tyler H., Jarred D., Andrew T., Bradley C., Floyd F., Eli V., Alexis B., Denise D., Rayanna W., Annabeth H., Emily W., Duncan R., Emilee H., Alexandria W., Ben S., Michael B., Amber B., Blake B., Nate K., Valeria P., Noah R., Randy S., and Austin R.


“I am proud of all these students. It takes an extraordinary effort to excel at district and state level auditions. More than 40 Ware band students auditioned, and they are all better musician for having met the requirements for auditioning. These type situations for band students not only build musicianship but character,” said Bussey.
