On November 10th, Ruskin Elementary School’s fourth and fifth grade classes honored United States military veterans at a special program. Honorees include Rudy Solomon, U.S. Army; Donna Solomon, U.S. Army; Gary Feazell, U. S. Navy; Sgt. Eugene Ramos, U. S. Army; Staff Sgt. Raymond Leitck, U.S. Marine Corps; Bill Allen, U. S. Marine Corps; Sgt. Sylvester Banks, U. S. Army; Jarrett Scotton, U. S. Air Force; Jim LeBrun, U. S. Navy; Glenn Cardenas, U. S. Marine Corps; Krystal Mock, U. S. Air Force; and Anthony Pearson, U. S. Navy.
Veterans and members of the audience were entertained by 4th & 5th grade students who performed several musical selections, including “America the Beautiful,” “My Country Tis of Thee,” and “Let There Be Peace on Earth.” Additionally, students performed the skit, “Sack Lunch Flying” and read original essays. Bailey Tatum played “Taps” for all present on the patriotic occasion.
Mr. Jim LeBrun, Superintendent of Ware County Schools, spoke to the audience about the freedom our country enjoys thanks to the commitment of our veterans. The crowd was invited to share refreshments after the program concluded.
Fourth and fifth grade students and teachers wish to thank all veterans who shared the evening with them at Ruskin Elementary School. Also, they wish to thank Mrs. Donna Solomon and Mr. Bill Epps, Ruskin Elementary School administrators, Superintendent LeBrun, and Ware County School Board member Mr. Barry Deas for their support, encouragement, and participation in the program.
