Wacona Elementary 3rd Graders are Learning Electrifying Concepts

Wacona Elementary's third grade students have had two in-class field trips with Georgia Power while learning about heat production, heat transfer, insulators, and conductors in class.

Mrs. Crystal Godfrey led the students in conducting an experiment to see which cup made the best insulator. She also talked to the students about ways to become more energy efficient at home.

Mr. Ben McQuaig brought Georgia Power’s PowerTown demonstration to teach students about the power and danger of electrical lines.  He taught them which materials are good conductors and insulators of electricity.  The students were intrigued as they were able to see the electrical flow between two conductors.  They were reminded to never to climb trees or fly kites near power lines and to get an adult if they see a downed power line.

The Ware County School System thanks Georgia Power for investing time in our schools. Mr. John Chancey is the principal of Wacona Elementary School.
