Wacona Elementary WINGS Students Make Sense of Investing

Mr. Derrick Sheffield, a member of the BYRT Financial Advisors team located in Waycross, Georgia, graciously visited Wacona Elementary's 4th and 5th grade WINGS students last month to help them connect the Stock Market Game, an online simulation of the capital markets, with stock market activity through his real-world applications and advice. He presented various related topics such as stock investments, mutual funds, his career responsibilities, and the advantages of long-term savings. In his parting words to students, Mr. Sheffield challenged them to do something that they dislike every day, suggesting that this will help them overcome challenges and reach goals. The Ware County School System is thankful for professional volunteers who invest their time into our students’ futures. Mr. Sheffield’s guidance and expertise will influence and guide students for years to come. John Chancey is the principal of Wacona Elementary School.
