Wacona Elementary Agriculture Students Reap the Benefits

Members of the Wacona Elementary Agriculture Club proudly show off their first harvest of bok choy. Over the past few months, 5th grade teachers Mr. James Bell and Mr. Jeffery McCarthy have worked with club members to plant several varieties of cabbage, lettuce, bok choy, onions and garlic. The mini-gardeners have enthusiastically taken on several major projects, including building a STEM inspired hydroponic garden as well as raising funds to purchase a green house and tiller. The overall goal for the club is to feed as many hungry little mouths as possible. The students relish the fact that the hard work they are doing is truly making a difference in their community.

Members from left to right top to bottom are Cayla H., Timothy H., Mytasia S., Dennise G., De’quandra W., Mackenzi T., Teagan H., Noah B., Connor B., Abby W., Matthew M., Hunter B., and Callie M.
